Samsung chooses Knowles White Goods standard solution to implement far-field voice recognition in its FamilyHub™ smart appliance connection center

Itasca, Illinois--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Knowles Corporation (New York Stock Exchange), a market leader and global supplier of advanced miniature acoustic microphones and speakers, audio processing and precision equipment solutions Code: KN) today announced the launch of the AISonic™ White Goods standard solution, a brand-new complete development solution that enables fast and easy voice integration for smart devices. This development kit enables OEMs and ODMs to build voice control and far-field voice recognition functions into smart appliances, including refrigerators, ovens and microwave ovens, washing machines and dryers, vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, etc. Samsung uses the Knowles white goods standard solution in its FamilyHub™ connection hub for smart appliances.

The AISonic White Goods standard solution is a development kit based on Knowles’ industry-leading AISonic audio edge processor IA8201, used to achieve the most accurate contextual audio and sensing, including an IA8201 reference board and a support and application processor or MCU or MCU integrated API RF chipset, system firmware version configured to support sensors, and pre-integrated microphone from Lou's Electronics, which can achieve high-quality audio capture and high signal-to-noise ratio.

Knowles white goods standard solutions support voice service interoperability, allowing multiple voice assistants to be integrated into a single device, and enabling customers to talk to the service of their choice in a secure manner by simply speaking their name. This enables Lou's white goods standard solutions to be integrated into a wider ecosystem of smart home appliances, thereby achieving greater product development freedom and innovation.

The smart home appliance market is one of the fastest growing vertical markets in smart homes, and voice control represents the key technical function that supports it. According to SAR Insight's research, it is estimated that more than 66 million voice processors for smart devices will be shipped by 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 55% from 2019 to 2024.

Vikram Shrivastava, Senior Director of Knowles IoT Marketing, said: “As the smart home appliance market matures and continues to expand, support for voice interfaces is expected to become a highly demanded feature that consumers are looking for in new appliances.” Let the refrigerator read grocery inventory aloud The ability to play recipe videos while cooking or preheat the oven while preparing dinner all contribute to the user experience, but in general, OEMs and ODMs face reduced power and memory limitations when adding voice functions. These limitations will have an impact on usability-AISonic audio edge processors eliminate this friction by providing high performance, small size, high efficiency, privacy and computing power, enabling customers to design modern products with far-field voice processing capabilities to achieve Listen accurately. We also have an ecosystem of hardware system integrators who have developed modules that integrate with traditional device control boards. "

The AISonic white goods standard solution also includes algorithms for audio front-ends used with the Amazon Alexa assistant and other cloud-based ASR APIs through the Knowles OpenDSP partner program. Lou's integration partner Sensory Inc. provides a wake word engine for white goods solutions, and provides Amazon-certified voice wake-up and far-field voice recognition for smart devices with limited memory.

Joe Murphy, Vice President of Marketing at Sensory Inc. said: "The smart home and appliance market is still a major opportunity, but it has also become highly competitive-support for voice may be a major product differentiator." We are very happy to be OEM and ODM provide Sensory's VoiceHub and TrulyHandsfree™ wake word engine to develop and deploy voice support to support new smart device applications that run efficiently and provide the best user experience.
