The limited-edition Voodoo Ghost 305 aims for flexibility and style, combining Lyric Cycles’ know-how with Beckford’s flashy aesthetic.

Bikes are a mainstay in the career of Tyson Beckford, considered one of the most successful models of all time.

He rode bikes with Laurence Fishburne in the 2003 film “Biker Boyz.” He’s the proud owner of an impressive collection, including several limited-edition Ducatis. He also frequently shows up on bikes in music videos, most recently in Lizzo’s “2 Be Loved.”

So it’s no surprise that the 51-year-old face of Ralph Lauren would be excited to partner with the electric bike/motorbike brand Lyric Cycles.

The model and actor worked with Lyric to create the Voodoo Ghost 305, an electric motorbike hybrid aimed at consumers looking for flexible inner-city transportation. Like Beckford, the bike is also easy on the eyes.

“I just wanted to make a safe, fast bike that not only looks good but works good,” Beckford said in an interview with GearJunkie. “That was the concept going into the Ghost 305.”

Thanks to Lyric’s forward-thinking designs, the Voodoo Ghost 305 is multiuse. It can function as an electric bicycle, a moped, or a motorcycle depending on the rider’s preference.

It’s built from a naked trellis frame with 18,000 peak watts and a top speed of 65 mph. It has a motorcycle fork, a two-passenger seat, and a full-color LCD display for tracking ride stats and charging devices.

The Ghost’s battery offers a 55- to 65-mile range, and its regenerative brakes recharge up to 10% of battery life. Those features mean that consumers can feel comfortable using the Ghost in heavy traffic or on the sidewalk, said Beckford.

They can also put it on a bus rack along with normal bicycles or take it on the subway. It gives owners the ability to “ride safer,” according to Beckford — although he sees the real attraction in its appearance.

“I think they’re gonna like this thing because of the design. And it’s going to be such a conversation piece when you pull up anywhere. And I think people are going to be talking about it,” he said.

When working with Lyric on the bike’s design, he was shown options for headlights, high-performance brakes, XL rims, and the use of carbon fiber parts. Throughout the process, Beckford took inspiration mainly from his Ducatis.

He said, “I was like, look, it’s got to have carbon like my Ducati, it’s got to have brakes like my Ducati, it’s got to have excellent tires and rims. It was basically taking the gas bike concept and putting it into an electric bike.”

The Lyric Cycles Voodoo Ghost 305 will cost about $7,500.

Its model number comes from Beckford’s area code in Miami. Lyric will only release 305 bikes in this first limited-edition run, offering color options in bronze or teal.

The company is accepting preorders of the Voodoo, with a “lucky few” getting 25% off. Bikes are expected to ship by the first quarter of 2023.
